Strengthening the partnership in order to promote the human resources to contribute to international cooperation

On August 19, Sophia University concluded Comprehensive Partnership Agreement with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) that allows further strategic cooperation between Sophia University and JICA.

This agreement allows Sophia University to propel researches and learnings with the practices of international cooperation and to cultivate more human resources committing　to international cooperation. On the other hand utilizing human resources, intelligences and networks of Sophia University for international cooperation to developing nations, improvement of quality of such projects of JICA will be expected.

For an example, as to make contribution to international cooperation involving environment issues with the requirement of interdisciplinary approaches, it is a great strength of Sophia University having all faculties centralized at one campus as well as holding a track record of cross departmental researches and projects being completed. It assures meaningful contribution as to improve quality of international cooperation projects of JICA. Also as to cultivate more human resources committing to international cooperation, more participation in Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers will be encouraged for the students who are interested in building careers in the area of international cooperation.

Aiming to enhance international cooperation to developing nations and regions with the objectives of improving the quality of international cooperation projects and also to contributing to academic research and education development, in 2011 Sophia University and JICA has concluded Strategic Cooperation Agreement. Since then various cooperation has been executed between Sophia University and JICA including accepting trainees and lecturers from JICA as well as co-hosting the international symposiums. Thereafter Human Resources Center for International Cooperation was also established aiming to cultivate human resources committing to international cooperation as well as to promote numbers of international students learning at Sophia University.
