We have been hearing more about the term “Global South,” which refers primarily to emerging and developing countries located in the southern hemisphere. In January of this year, the “Global South Voices Summit” was held with the participation of 125 countries and regions. Amidst the framework of a new Cold War, such as “US-EU vs. China-Russia,” emerging countries, including Southeast Asia, have been gaining influence along with their economic growth.
The Japan Economic Newspaper has organized the international conference “Asia’s Future” for the past 28 years, inviting political, economic, and academic leaders from Asia to discuss Asia’s role in the world. This time, as a new initiative, Sophia University is participating as an academic partner, and all faculty members will be able to attend the “Asia’s Future” forum, which will be held online on May 25th and 26th.
