【Course description】
In this course, we address a series of questions with the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) as a common global goal, including the following
-How have concepts and values of “nature” changed or not in the history of Japan?
-How have the interactions between people and the environment been determined?
-What policies have been adopted around pollution under the pressure of modernization, and finally
-What lessons can be learned from the SDGs from Japanese environmental history?
This course’s methods are environmental history, environmental policy history, and political ecology (economics).
