Let’s continue to save energy on campus this summer!

🌞As the hot and humid days continue, are you keeping cool while being mindful of saving electricity?

Sophia University has been working to reduce energy consumption in order to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030.

👏With your cooperations, we were able to reduce electricity consumption by -2.5% (about 130,000 kWh) last winter’s (government) power saving period. (Based on results from December 2022 to March 2023).

In addition, to achieve Sophia University’s “Grand Layout 3.0,” newly established mid- to long-term plan for fiscal years 2023-2030, and to put into practice Pope Francis’s, “Laudato Si – Cherish the Home You Live With” philosophy, we shall continue to act with awareness of energy conservation.

In particular, since the Yotsuya Campus accounts for about 95% of Sophia University’s energy consumption, power-saving actions within the Yotsuya Campus is crucial!

Specific power saving actions to take :

(1) Setting the air-conditioning temperature to 28℃ (standard)

(2) Turn off the lights in rooms where natural light can be obtained

(3) Turn off the air conditioners, lighting, and electrical equipment in classrooms, laboratories, and offices that are not in use.
