THE Impact Rankings is an international assessment to rank universities around the world by how they address social issues by assessing them against the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Launched in 2019, the fourth edition was announced.
In the previous assessment, 1,275 institutions worldwide participated. This time there were more than 1,500 entries. Amid increasing competition, Sophia University ranked in the 401-600 band in the overall ranking, improving both its global ranking and score. (It previously ranked in the 601-800 band.)
The student staff of the Office of Sophia Sustainability Promotion played a central role in the application procedures, including investigating trends of universities overseas and in Japan, enhancing the contents on the Sophia University official website, compiling the SDGs & Sustainability Report 2020, and collecting evidence for each SDG.
